Unboxing the Package

The package came with a lot of attachments for the window where the air conditioner will connect, including some foam pads, it also has some parts for the hose to connect to the window opening, a remote, and the air conditioner itself.

I really like the colors and design of the air conditioner, it’s smaller in size allowing it to fit easily in small areas and even the manual buttons provide much more control than regular air conditioners.

Key Features

Dual Hose System

The Midea Duo Smart AC introduces a game-changing feature with the dual hose design. Unlike traditional air conditioners that use a single hose for both inhale and exhale, Midea Smart AC uses a separate hose for each of them.

This not only allows the air conditioner to regulate the air pressure in the room but also cools the room faster and more efficiently. Normally air conditioners use the same exhaling hose to suck new air in, this is a problem as it allows the recently exhaled hot air to creep back in.

But with the carefully designed dual hose system, this isn’t the case. This feature alone makes the Midea Duo Smart AC one of the most viable options in the market.

Voice Control

The AC supports integration with voice assistants like Amazon Alexa and Google. This allows the AC to be controlled from simple voice commands like, Alexa switch to the dehumidify mode.

This not only adds an extra layer of convenience but also provides an array of controls from your phone. The integration with a voice assistant not only contributes to the user-friendly nature of the AC but also provides a hands-free and accessible experience to users who prefer simplicity.

4 in 1 Package

The Midea Duo Smart AC may be expensive but it gives a lot of bang for your buck in the number of features. The smart air conditioner is capable of four modes:

  1. Cooling Mode: As the primary function of the AC, it efficiently cools spaces making it ideal for hot summer days. Packed with a Department of Energy (DOE) Btu rating of 12,000, it’s capable of effectively cooling rooms up to 550 square feet!
  2. Heating Mode: The Midea Duo Smart Inverter Portable Air Conditioner also has a heater to help regulate them by extracting heat from the outdoor air. It provides precise control for customized warmth but you should note that the heater isn’t the main purpose of the AC. Online customers have reported several problems with it, specifically, the fact that the heater doesn’t work when the temperature outside is cold.
  3. Fan Mode: The AC is also capable of functioning as a fan. It provides air circulation without the need for cooling. This is beneficial on moderately warm days and to save energy, when you may not need intense cooling but still want to improve airflow in the room.
  4. Dehumidification Mode: The unit also serves as a great dehumidifier, effectively reducing excess moisture in the air. This feature is particularly useful in humid climates or during damp seasons as it provides additional comfort and improves indoor air quality.

Benefits

Easy Installation

The Air Conditioner offers super easy installation that can be done within 20 minutes. It provides all the necessary items, so no buying extra things.

Super easy pairing with the smart app, just add a device and hold the pair button on the AC for 3 seconds.

The AC has wheels to move around easily that work well on any surface, but you won’t need them if you are super strong like me.

Energy Saving

The AC has a built-in temperature sensor that allows it to switch to a lower power when the desired temperature is reached.

The Midea Duo cools the house two times more strongly and two times as fast. This takes more power in the first couple of hours but allows the climate to get to the preferred temperature faster. This reduces overall power consumption without compromising on quality.

The AC allows schedules and routines, so you can only run it when necessary and avoid it running unnecessarily. For example, when you are arriving home and need the room cool.

Compatibility

Apart from the given remote control, the AC can be connected to the dedicated app for changing settings, adding schedules, and overall controlling.

For extra convenience, the Midea Duo Smart Air Conditioner supports integration with popular ecosystems like Amazon Alexa, Google Home, and IFTTT, allowing for voice controls and triggers.

Pros and Cons

UpsidesDownsides
The air conditioner is very versatile to use. Not only does it provide support for a variety of window sizes, but it also has wheels to move it around easily. The heater doesn’t work when it’s cold outside which can be a bummer for people where the winter is really cold.
The AC helps conserve energy by constantly detecting the room’s climate and switching to low power mode when the preferred climate is metWhile the wheels are great to move around in the house, the weight of 75 pounds can be difficult to take upstairs.
The Duo Hose design allows the air conditioner to keep hot air out while sucking new air in to equalize the room’s temperature.Installation can be difficult if it’s your first time, especially the hose connecting part. Even the slightest movement in the slider after assembling it makes the whole thing come off again.
The dedicated app and compatibility with popular smart home apps and voice assistants allow for greater control over your air conditioner
Pros and cons of the AC

Overall Rating

After seeing all the uses and drawbacks of the Midea Duo Smart AC, I am giving it a rating of 8 on a scale of 1-10. The air conditioning excels at what it’s made for. It’s portable, easy to install, better at cooling, and much more.

There are only two reasons for not giving it a perfect 10. Firstly the price, $700 seems a bit too much for a portable air conditioner. Secondly, the heater is kind of flawed.

In the US states where the temperature drops cold in the winter, the heater isn’t viable to heat the room down.
