Unlock the Potential: TV Viewing on Your Peloton Screen

Are you an avid Peloton rider looking to spice up your workouts with some entertainment? Or maybe you’re just curious if you can catch up on your favorite shows while getting your sweat on. Either way, you may be wondering if you can watch TV on the Peloton screen.

First and foremost, it’s important to note that the Peloton screen is primarily designed for Peloton workouts and related features, such as live classes and scenic rides. However, with a bit of creativity and some extra equipment, it is possible to use the screen for TV viewing as well.

You can open Nova launcher on your Peloton by going to your Device Settings. Look for the Peleton Logo, and then Nova. One option is to connect an external device, such as a streaming stick or gaming console, to the HDMI port on the back of the Peloton screen.

This allows you to access streaming services like Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime Video directly on the screen. Just be aware that this method may require some extra setup and may not be as seamless as using a dedicated TV.

So, if you’re curious about how to use your Peloton screen for TV viewing, keep reading for some tips and tricks.

Can I watch videos on my Peloton?

Going back to our main question, It’s possible. You can have access to streaming applications such as YouTube, Hulu, and Amazon Prime. However, isn’t that easy. Because, Peloton doesn’t have built-in support for any streaming services.

This is mostly because Peloton would rather its customers subscribe to its premium exercise videos and live courses than use a service from a third party.

Why doesn’t Peloton support services that let you watch TV online?

There are a few reasons why Peloton may not support services that allow you to watch TV online. Firstly, Peloton is primarily designed as a fitness platform, with a focus on providing users with a seamless workout experience. Integrating additional features like TV viewing could potentially detract from this core mission.

Secondly, Peloton likely has partnerships and licensing agreements in place with content providers like music labels and fitness instructors. Adding TV viewing capabilities could potentially complicate these agreements and lead to licensing and copyright issues.

Lastly, Peloton’s screen is designed to be a dedicated display for the Peloton app and related features, with limited functionality outside of this scope. While it is possible to connect external devices and access other services on the screen, this may not be a priority for Peloton and could potentially lead to technical issues or support challenges.

If you wish to watch Netflix programs while exercising, you may do so by installing the Netflix APK (Android Application Package) on your Peloton tablet.

Watching TV on Peloton Has Its Risks

While it may be possible to watch TV on the Peloton screen, it’s important to note that doing so comes with some potential risks. One of the biggest concerns is distraction – watching TV while cycling or doing other workouts can be dangerous if it takes your attention away from the exercise.

Additionally, using the Peloton screen for TV viewing could potentially lead to technical issues or damage to the equipment. Streaming services can put a strain on internet connectivity, which may cause buffering or lagging during your workout. In some cases, this can even cause the Peloton system to crash or malfunction.

Another consideration is the impact that TV viewing could have on your workout motivation. While it may be tempting to watch your favorite show while working out, doing so may detract from the experience and make it harder to stay focused and motivated.

If you happen to encounter glitches on your Peloton screen while using the streaming TV web browser workaround, don’t sweat it! The good news is that you can easily fix most problems by performing a factory reset on your Peloton screen. Think of it as a magic wand that restores your screen to its default settings and makes any graphical glitches disappear.

The best part? This nifty trick won’t affect your Peloton account in any way. Once the factory reset is done, all you need to do is sign back in and voila! Your Peloton screen will be up and running again as good as new.

Here are the steps to do a factory reset on your Peloton bike:

  1. Press and hold the “Volume Up” and “Volume Down” buttons on the right handlebar, as well as the “Power” button on the back of the screen.
  2. Hold all three buttons down for about 10 seconds until the screen goes black.
  3. Release the buttons and wait for the Peloton logo to appear.
  4. Once the logo appears, press and hold the “Volume Up” and “Volume Down” buttons on the right handlebar again.
  5. Continue holding the buttons down until the “Factory Reset” option appears on the screen.
  6. Use the “Volume Up” and “Volume Down” buttons to navigate to the “Factory Reset” option, and then press the “Power” button to select it.
  7. Confirm that you want to perform a factory reset by selecting “Yes” on the confirmation screen.

Note that performing a factory reset will erase all data and settings from your Peloton bike, so be sure to back up any important data before proceeding. Additionally, a factory reset should only be done as a last resort troubleshooting step – if you’re experiencing issues with your Peloton bike, be sure to try other troubleshooting steps first.

Can you cast your Peleton Workouts to your Peloton screen?

With its cast screen feature you can use “Cast Screen” right under “Advanced Settings”. Wait for it to scan available devices. Just ensure your used devices is connected to the same network your Peloton is connected for the pairing to be successfull.

Even if your Peloton bike doesn’t have the “Cast screen” feature, you can still cast the workouts to your TV using Chromecast.

Peloton treads and bikes made after 2016 have a feature called “Miracast,” which lets you show the same thing on two screens at the same time.

  • Download the Peloton app from the AppStore or PlayStore on your iPhone or Android phone.
  • If you tap any exercise video, you can use Google Chromecast to send it to a nearby device.

How do I cast content from the Peloton app on my iPhone to my smart TV?

Using AirPlay, you can send content from the Peloton app on your iPhone to your TV.

Alternatively, if you’re using Android phone or other devices, you can use Chromecast to stream the Peloton content from your phone to your TV. But if you have a smart TV, chances are that you can just directly download the Peloton app.

Conclusion

Even though Peloton does not officially offer streaming TV services that you can watch while riding, you can still watch your favorite shows.

While it is primarily designed for Peloton workouts and scenic rides, it actually wants its riders to enjoy and have their own kind of creative exercise. With Nova, Cast, Miracast and even just using your external device and HDMIs port you’ll have accesss to a couple of streaming devices.

Setting it up is easy to learn but the experience may not be the same as using your typical TV or Smart TV particulary if we’re going to talk about the screen size. It’s better than nothing though!
