You can utilize Tile, a Bluetooth device, to locate everyday items, aiding in your organization and productivity. Simply affix the trackers to objects as varied as keys, wallets, phones, passports, laptops, pets, and many others!

Tile offerings are counted among the best Bluetooth trackers on the market, typically priced between $20 and $30. Tile, the enterprise, generates over $1.3 billion in revenue, indicative of its broad popularity and affordable costs, providing great value for money.

They come with several capabilities that essentially make it impossible to lose your keys, wallet, phone, or water bottle.

We’ll show you how to replace the battery in your Tile and what you need to know about battery life on all Tile products so you can buy the best model for your needs!

This is how Tile Mate Packaging looks.

How does Tile know when its battery should need a replacement?

You will receive a notification to your app that your Tile will be a year older. Right after this notification, you should head on and check the exact date. Make sure you replace the battery before the indicated date.

On the other hand, when you haven’t received any notification for its one-year mark, you might have been using Tile MateTile Slim, or  Tile Sticker. The battery of these Tiles expires after three years.

It’s only Tile Pro with a battery that expires after a year.

How will you know if a battery is new or used?

Try plopping it down; if it doesn’t bounce back, it’s a battery that’s never been used before. You should do this to other batteries you will purchase to ensure you’re getting a new one, not a refurbished one.

To ensure you would net a battery in excellent condition, here are the brands I suggest you buy:

    • CR2032  Energizer
    • CR2032 Duracell

    Is my Tile battery dead?

There’s a difference between a battery with low power, but there’s a sure factor to know that your Tile battery is dead.

Check your Tile’s battery by double-pressing the button. The battery may be dead if it doesn’t play a tune. It may be time to order a new Tile if the battery is not replaceable.

A Tile’s replaceable battery will last up to a year.

Can you replace the battery in a Tile?

As mentioned, you can replace the Tile battery. On the other hand, this isn’t possible for the older Tile models. Tiles with non-replaceable batteries cannot be accessed or changed. Therefore, buying a new Tile is the best option.

For the more recent models, there’s a specific timeframe that you’d need to replace your battery.

You’ll need the following materials to replace it:

    • A new battery
    • A precision screwdriver or paperclip.

These are the newest models of Tile and the battery you should replace them with:

    Tile Model Applicable Battery
    Tile Mate 2018 CR1632
    Tile Mate 2020 CR1632
    Tile Pro 2018 CR2032
    Tile Pro 2020 CR2032
    Tile Pro 2022 CR2032
Tile Models and the Battery They Require

How to replace the battery in my Tile?

When you have what you need, follow these steps:

    1. Open the battery door.
    2. Use a screwdriver or paper clip to remove the old battery.
    3. Slide the new battery into the compartment with the (+) facing up.
    4. Close the battery door. Make sure it is sealed and secured.

Free battery replacements are included in Tile Premium and Premium Protect subscriptions.

The batteries are available at most convenience stores, or you can order them online from Amazon. Duracell and Energizer are two brands I highly recommend.

Fun Fact: Tile can be tracked in the range of 100 to 400 feet.

Why did my Tile stop working?

One reason why your Tile stopped working is due to selecting the wrong Lost and Found Label during the activation process.

Here’s how you can enable a Tile that suddenly stopped working:

    • Make sure your mobile device is compatible with the latest version of Tile.
    • From your recent apps page, force close all apps.
    • Restart your mobile device.
    • Relaunch the Tile app.
    • Try activating the Tile again.
