TCL X11L wins Best of CES
The TCL X11L SQD-Mini LED TV earned a Best of CES 2026 award for pushing display performance beyond current flagship standards. It stood out for combining extreme brightness, advanced color precision, and refined local dimming into a single consumer-ready TV.
This recognition reflects TCL’s broader strategy to challenge OLED dominance by delivering OLED-like contrast with significantly higher brightness. Keep reading to see what makes this Mini LED TV a genuine industry milestone.
Record brightness redefines television limits
The TCL X11L reaches a peak brightness of up to 10,000 nits, placing it among the brightest consumer TVs ever demonstrated. This level of brightness dramatically improves HDR performance, especially in sunlit living rooms where OLED panels often struggle.
Higher brightness allows highlights to appear more realistic while preserving shadow detail. It also improves visibility during daytime viewing, making the X11L practical for real-world environments rather than dark, controlled rooms.
Unmatched local dimming precision
With up to 20,000 local dimming zones, the X11L delivers precise control over light and shadow. This dense Mini LED backlight enables deeper blacks while minimizing blooming artifacts around bright objects on dark backgrounds.
TCL’s Halo Control System plays a key role by dynamically managing these zones in real time. The result is contrast performance that closely rivals OLED while maintaining the advantages of LED-based brightness.
Super Quantum Dot color breakthrough
The X11L introduces TCL’s Super Quantum Dot technology, also referred to as SQD-Mini LED. This technology enables 100% coverage of the BT.2020 color space—a rare feat among consumer TVs.
Wider color coverage ensures more accurate reproduction of modern HDR content. Colors appear cleaner and more precise without oversaturation, preserving the creative intent behind movies and high-end streaming productions.
Mini LED challenges OLED dominance
OLED remains known for perfect blacks, but Mini LED has rapidly closed the gap. The X11L demonstrates how advanced dimming and brightness can replicate OLED-like contrast while surpassing it in peak luminance.
This approach avoids OLED’s brightness limitations and potential burn-in concerns. For buyers prioritizing HDR impact, longevity, and bright-room performance, Mini LED is becoming a compelling alternative.
Halo Control reduces blooming artifacts
Blooming has long been a weakness of LED-based TVs, especially in high-contrast scenes. TCL’s Halo Control System significantly reduces this issue by tightly managing how and when individual Mini LEDs activate.
The system improves edge accuracy around subtitles, stars, and bright highlights. This refinement allows the X11L to deliver cinematic visuals without the distracting glow seen in older LCD designs.
Ultra thin ZeroBorder design
Despite its powerful backlight system, the X11L measures under 0.8 inches thick. TCL’s ZeroBorder design minimizes visible bezels, creating an edge-to-edge screen that enhances immersion.
This slim profile helps the TV blend seamlessly into modern living spaces. It also reinforces the idea that high-performance Mini LED panels no longer require bulky housings.
Bang & Olufsen audio integration
TCL partnered with Bang & Olufsen to deliver a premium built-in sound system. The speakers are tuned for clarity, balance, and spatial depth, reducing reliance on external audio solutions.
For the first time, the X11L also supports an optical wireless subwoofer connection. This allows deeper bass without cables or a separate soundbar setup.
Google TV with Gemini AI
The TCL X11L is one of the first flagship TVs to feature Google TV integrated with Gemini AI, allowing users to control the TV through conversational voice commands. This goes beyond simple playback, enabling more natural interaction with the system.
Viewers can adjust picture settings, switch to specific viewing modes, or even manage compatible smart home devices using everyday language. This makes navigating menus and configuring settings far more intuitive, creating a seamless and personalized entertainment experience.
Advanced HDR format support
The TCL X11L is compatible with Dolby Vision IQ, HDR10+, HDR10, and HLG, ensuring top-quality playback across streaming services, Blu-rays, and broadcast content. This wide support guarantees that viewers experience content as creators intended, no matter the source.
Dolby Vision IQ dynamically adjusts brightness and contrast according to ambient light, while HDR10+ enhances dynamic metadata for more precise highlights and deeper blacks. Together, these formats deliver a consistently vivid and immersive viewing experience throughout the day.
WHVA panel enhances viewing angles
The TCL X11L uses the WHVA 2.0 Ultra Panel to maintain accurate colors and strong contrast from wider viewing angles. This is ideal for large living rooms where multiple viewers watch from different spots, ensuring everyone sees the same high-quality image.
Off-center seating experiences minimal color or brightness loss, delivering a consistent picture across the screen. This improvement enhances group viewing, movie nights, and gaming sessions, making the X11L a more immersive and enjoyable choice for shared spaces.
144Hz refresh rate gaming readiness
The TCL X11L features a 144Hz refresh rate and four HDMI 2.1 ports, delivering next-gen gaming performance. It delivers smoother motion, lower input lag, and reliable high frame rate support for modern consoles and powerful gaming PCs.
Fast-moving scenes appear clearer and more responsive during competitive gameplay. This performance allows the X11L to function as both a premium home theater display and a capable large-format gaming monitor.
