There is a multitude of ways to ensure your smart home is equipped with the best products in 2019. We’ll be taking a quick look at three products:

  • SmartDry Laundry Wireless Laundry Sensor
  • Aeotec Garage Door Controller (Gen5)
  • SmartThings WiFi Plug or SmartThings WiFi Outlet

SmartDry Wireless Laundry Sensor

The SmartDry Wireless Laundry Sensor is a product you can easily install and forget about – the setup is quite simple. There may instances where your dryer is not giving you the heat output you need. In other cases, the dryer may actually be too hot for your clothes. The SmartDry Laundry Sensor will let you know. Right now, you can integrate the device with Amazon Alexa and the SmartDry App, however, that’s it for now. There is no integration between SmartDry and SmartThings or Google Assistant.  This product as Automate Your Life’s seal of approval. You can pick on up on our Amazon Affiliate link (proceeds may go to AYL) for $50 USD (here): https://amzn.to/2Vlx6wJ

Aeotec Garage Door Controller

The Aeotec Garage Door Controller (Gen5) is a well built Z-Wave device. I had the opportunity to install the Garage Controller in my own Garage. I have to say again that the device is well built and the installation is very intuitive. They really thought about trying to make your life easier with this controller. You can read more about it in our recent article: Aeotec Garage Door Controller (Gen5) Installation Experience.

Aeotec has already announced its new Gen7 products. You can read about it in our article: Aeotec 700 series Z-Wave Gen 7, Z-Wave Plus Version 2.

SmartThings WiFi Plug, WiFi Outlet – no hub required

The SmartThings WiFi Plug or SmartThings WiFi Outlet was released into the US market recently. You can see How To Setup the SmartThings WiFi Plug (here). The SmartThings Outlet is definitely all SmartThings in design and functionality. The SmartThings WiFi plug does not require a hub for it to function within your smart home; it will integrate via Bixby, Google Assistant, and Amazon Alexa. The ‘plug’ when integrated, can monitor power usage and can be run with programmable routines to control devices automatically. The SmartThings WiFi Plug or WiFi Outlet is available here (AYL may recieve proceeds from the Affiliate link) for $18 USD: https://amzn.to/2VoJOec
