Samsung SmartThings Updates and New Features: Automate Your Life is going to talk about the latest smart home news on Samsung SmartThings, the SmartThings platform, and all kinds of new connecting services and products. There are a ton of new updates, new features, and new products that you can use with Samsung SmartThings, including Tuya or Smart Life, Smart Dry, Wyze, SwitchBot, and many others. You will need to watch the video for the full synopsis of SmartThings Updates. I’m going to fill you in on two things right away: Smart View, and SmartThings Groovy IDE.

And yes, it looks like the Samsung Galaxy Home Mini is not in the immediate timetable. Oh, bother.

Smart View Screen Mirroring

SmartThings will also allow you to mirror the screen on your *phone. You’ll need a 2019-20 Samsung TV and a Samsung Phone, however, once you get these in place, you’ll be able to mirror your Samsung Phone to your TV through Samsung SmartThings. This could be a really good option for Home Automaters that want to have a virtual command center on your TV… you’ll just need a Samsung Phone and Samsung TV to make it work.

SmartThings Groovy IDE – Integrate devices directly with SmartThings Hub

The Groovy IDE from SmartThings will allow you to connect your devices directly to the SmartThings Hub using ZigBee, Z-Wave, or LAN/HTTP protocols. However, you will need at least one of the three following things and a Samsung Account to make it work:

  • Samsung SmartThings Hub
  • Samsung Connect Home WiFi System
  • ADT Home Security Kit with SmartThings

You will need to go to https://graph.api.smartthings.com and begin the process to connect to your Hub… interesting that it looks so much like Hubitat’s user interface… Anyhow, You will be able to check the status of your devices and most of the Zigbee, Z-Wave devices that are capable of connecting straight to Samsung’s hub.
