I must say I’m so impressed with Philips Hue for thinking about usability in mind! Battery replacement is a piece of cake.
Here are the steps:
- You need a Phillips screwdriver #00.
- Find the screw that holds the battery cover in place. You’ll find it on the back of your Philip Hue button.
- Unscrew to open. Turn the screw anticlockwise.
- Open the battery cover.
- Take out the batteries and insert new ones.

What battery does Hue smart button use?
The Philip Hue smart button uses a CR2450 battery.
You can find these batteries through your local hardware, home improvement stores, grocery stores, and online shops.
If you want to stock up, you’re in luck! These batteries are easy to find and they’re cheap.
There’s a rechargeable version of this battery but it’s not AA. Also, they’re harder to find a reliable battery manufacturer for this type of battery.
