For this, you have to follow some simple steps.

The IFTTT app is available for both Android and iPhone. You can just download it from their store or simply use it from your web browser.

  • You can then log in, but before that, don’t forget to create an IFTTT subscription.
  • Go to MyQ’s IFTTT page. Then press Connect. After that, you must submit your MyQ login information to set up your smart garage.
  • You must pay a $1 monthly subscription fee to get IFTTT support.
  • IFTTT also requires you to connect with your Amazon account to work properly. So, go to the Amazon Alexa IFTTT page and press Connect. Use the information from your Amazon account to log in.

How do I link my Alexa to MyQ?

In line with using IFTTT, there are Applets. According to Oxford, Applet is a tiny application that can execute a few simple tasks. It’s usually connected to another large application.

IFTTT offers some common applets for its users that are compatible with MyQ. Make sure you get the right version. To set up your chosen applet for your garage door, follow this table:

IFTTT also allows you to create customized applets. To create your applet, you have to follow these steps:

  • Visit the IFTTT app. Tap Create.
  • Select “If this”. Type “Alexa” to get a service, and there you’ll find a bunch of Triggers.
  • Select any of the triggers you liked. You can also say specific phrases.
  • Click on “Then that,” then search for “MyQ” under the services section to see which triggers MyQ offers.

Apart from IFTTT, you can also use simple commands to connect your Alexa with MyQ. All you have to do is download the SimpleCommands app and connect the app with Alexa and MyQ.

You need to follow a series of commands to connect SimpleCommands with your Alexa and MyQ. You may think that the procedure is too lengthy! But trust me, it’s really easy.

It’s all about reading the commands and clicking.

It may take roughly 10-15 minutes to complete the whole procedure. After that, you’re all set to go!

After downloading the SimpleCommands app for your device, you have to follow the following steps:

  1. Create an account with SimpleCommands. For this, go to the app. You’ll find a page asking you to log in. At the bottom, you’ll find the “Create an account” option. Fill it out properly, and then you’ll get a confirmation mail. (Remember to check your spam folder if you can’t find the confirmation email.)
  2. You’ll find the “Confirm email” option on your verification mail. Tap on it. Your new account is ready. Go to the SimpleCommands app to log in.
  3. At the bottom of the homepage of the SimpleCommands app, you’ll find “Add/Remove” Items, then select “MyQ – openers” and press “Add.” After that, you have to submit your MyQ email and password to connect with SimpleCommands.
  4. Go to the Alexa app, tap on the “More” option, and find “Skills & Games.” Type “kloee for SC” and tap “Enable to use.” Allow Alexa to have access to your SimpleCommands account.
  5. Again, go to the SimpleCommands app, press the Three Bars (Menu) at the top, then tap “Routines.”
  6. You’ll find the Add a Routine section, provide a Routine name, and tap on “Create Routine.” Add your MyQ garage door to your Routine.
  7. Choose your garage door command and then press “Add Command.” If everything is done smoothly, you should be able to see your newly created Routines on the Routines page. Now you have to edit your newly created Routine.
  8. Go to the Routine edit page, and look at the very bottom. Here you’ll find “Enable Voice Companion Alexa and/or Google Assistant.” Press on it. Set the Voice Trigger to “Enabled” and enter your desired phrase.
  9. Again, return to the Alexa app. Look at the bottom. Find the “Devices.” Select the (+) sign in the upper right corner. Tap “Add Device.” You’ll find the “Other” option at the very bottom. Click on it.
  10. To connect your device to Alexa, select “Discover Devices.” If you see “1 scene discovered” (or more), select “Done” to complete the process.
  11. Return to the Alexa app’s home screen, and select “Routines” from the menu.
  12. Tap on the “(+)” sign to add Routine. On the “New Routine” page, you’ll find “Add Action.Press on the “(+)” sign. Then tap on “Smart Home.” Click on “Control scene.”
  13. Choose the new scene you just formed. Again press “Add.” Select Routine Name, and click “When this happens”. Before saving your Routine, choose your voice command. And finally, you’re done!
