Just Arrived: New Wyze Video Doorbell for $30, New Wyze Thermostat and Wyze Headphones

Wyze has just come out with a New Wyze Video Doorbell for just $30, a new thermostat, and headphones. It seems that Wyze is continuing to use its Wyze Cam branding success in the tech market. I think with all the competitors on the market starting to show off their tech in the next few weeks, Wyze is showing that they have devices that should compete and bring smart devices to the budget or mid-market consumer.

Wyze Video Doorbell

The New Wyze Video Doorbell will be available in January 2021. The New Wyze Video Doorbell is meant to be hardwired to existing power and doorbell connections. The chime is a plugin device that you can put anywhere in the home. You can choose up to 19 sounds. The new Wyze doorbell fits in the palm of your hands. It contains a 1080p resolution camera (we would expect no less from the makers of Wyze Cam) and two-way audio.

You will be able to get instant notifications and free motion-activated videos. Like the Wyze Cam, standard motion detection records 12- second videos and stores them for 14 days. However, with the Wyze Cam Plus subscription, you can record full-length videos for up to 14 days. Speaking of motion detection. The Wyze Video doorbell lights up at night when motion is detected, so you’ll have a good deterrent for those porch pirates. Of course, the Wyze Video Doorbell is IP65 weather-resistant, which means it should hold up to the rain, snow, and sun. No battery is required since it’s hardwired.

Wyze Thermostat

I’m not surprised anymore since Wyze has come out with its own Wyze Band, Wyze Door Lock, and Wyze Scale. The Wyze Thermostat will also be available for pre-order on October 5, 2020. Wyze has not listed the price, but considering how Wyze has priced most products, it’s most likely going to be highly competitive (maybe $100 or less?).

According to reports from The Verge, the Wyze Thermostat will have the basic smart thermostat features such as scheduling, home and away, and sleep modes. However, there will also be Alexa and Google Assistant voice control. So, there is not much to the device, other than it should be an economical way to manage the temperature in your home and hopefully save on your power bill.

Wyze Headphones

Wyze had turned some heads in August 2020 regarding the Wyze Headphones. It seems that they were bringing headphones to the market. The response was mixed. Wyze proposes to make noise-canceling headphones, which will be available for pre-order on September 28, 2020. It is good timing too since many large competitors will be announcing their updates on their earbud or headphone technology in the coming weeks. Wyze claims their new Wyze Headphones will have 20 hours of battery life, two mics, and Alexa enabled. They must be Bluetooth (good assumption – nothing I can find on the website). So, it seems that the device will resemble much like the COWIN E7 headphones. I’m interested to see what type of headphone product Wyze comes up with. It could be a good fit to provide the kids for an online school, or having a pair for gaming.
