What To Do

Check the Wifi router.

First off, make sure your WiFi connection is working. You can do a quick speed test to ensure the connection is stable enough for your Ring Doorbell.

Before you can access your Ring device via the internet, you need to make sure that it is configured with the right password.

You’ll first need to reset your device’s settings by selecting Reboot Device from the menu.

There are two ways to do it:

  • Choose Reset Settings. You’ll be given an option for a 2-stage reboot where we recommend choosing Wifi.
  • Reset All Settings. This will ensure all settings are back to factory default, giving you full control over setting up your Wi-Fi and adding your account.

Enter set up mode.

Before you can connect your device to another WiFi connection, you’ll have to put your Ring doorbell into set-up mode.

  • For the ring video doorbell, take the doorbell off of the mounting bracket and then press the orange button located at the back of the doorbell, only ONCE. Don’t hold the button down. The indication that your device has entered setup mode is that a white spinning light will start flashing at the front of the device.
  • For the ring doorbell 2,3, 3 plus, and elite, you’ll first have to take off the faceplate from the Ring doorbell and then press the black button located on the front side of the device.

How to connect your Ring Doorbell to another Wifi?

Here’s how to change the wifi on your ring doorbell device step by step:

  1. Launch the Ring app.
  2. Tap the three-line icon on the top left of the screen.
  3. Select “Devices.”

  5. Select “Device Health.”
  6. Tap “Change WiFi Network.”
  7. Follow the on-screen prompts to activate the doorbell.
  8. Select your preferred WiFi network.

Use the Right Frequency

Most internet routers have two frequencies: 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz.

The 2.4 GHz wifi frequency has a longer range than the 5 GHz but at the cost of its speed resulting in it being slower than the 5 GHz frequency.

Both frequencies may be listed as separate networks when selecting a Wi-Fi network for your Ring Doorbell.
