Google Home Mini Speaker Pairing

I found out that you can now pair your Google Home Mini speakers. I think this adds a ton of value for those who bought a multitude of Google Home Minis and don’t know what to do with them since Google announced the new generation Nest Mini at the MadebyGoogle event.

I have been working on The Garage Automation Experiment. It’s my way to find more ways to automate an important space in the home: The Garage. I thought that having a Google Home Mini in the garage gave me a way to automate my home from the garage and listen to music. Now that I have paired the speakers; I have stereo sound. To think that most Google Home Mini speakers run about $35, it’s an economical option to get a pair of them to create stereo sound. Now, It’s even more fun in the garage. I can clean up (never-ending) and work in the garage to my favorite tunes in stereo. You can check out my TikTok video here: http://vm.tiktok.com/mfErN6. I have some setup photos down below. In the meantime, you can read about my Garage Automation Experiment [here].

Samsung Galaxy Home Mini

Samsung is showing off its Galaxy Home Mini smart speaker at the Samsung Developer Conference. It looks well designed. I think all the Samsung personal devices and SmartThings users have been waiting patiently for a Samsung ecosystem. It looks like the Galaxy Home will be a real thing soon. Can you imagine all the SmartThing devices you will be able to control with your own Samsung Galaxy Home Hub?

SiriusXM coming to Google Assistant

SiriusXM subscribers will now be able to play their favorite satellite channels on Google and Nest smart speakers. It would be awesome to continue your car-ride music into your home with a Google Assistant command. You can check out the subscription plans on https://www.siriusxm.com/

Razer Junglecat – Portable Dual-sided Gaming Controller

I wanted to talk about the Razer Junglecat – Portable Dual-Sided Gaming Controller. In the wake of portable gaming consoles coming out, wouldn’t it be awesome to have a portable controller attached to your phone? You’re essentially making your phone a Nintendo Switch. Razer knows their gaming. However, I wanted to talk about this because I have an idea. What if you could use the joy-controllers to manage different automation:

  1. Simple method: just using controllers to scroll through menu items: It’s a real human-user-interface instead of touching a touchscreen. There is a world full of people that need tactile control.
  2. Devices that need motorized control: If you have automation in your house like a garage door, motorized curtains,
  3. Virtual Reality Control: Can you imagine using your controllers in a VR setting to control your home?
  4. Robots: I think I’m going to have to get robots; (1) Controlling a drone for security footage to follow a burglar – Skynet… (2) Controlling my robot vacuum to annoy the cat (I don’t have a cat – but I would get one if I was able to control my vacuum with controllers). I am kidding – no animals were harmed in the writing of this article. (3) controlling security footage cameras. (4) Controlling my lawnmower or autonomous vehicle. (5) Controlling a spotlight.

Ok, you get the idea with controllers: I’m excited for gamers, yes, but I’m excited for future automation being controlled with my hands. It’s like bringing automation into gaming. I would love to automate my house with my Nintendo Switch. Nintendo, if you’re listening; I would like to help make that happen.
