The Google Home Mini is a Smart Home Speaker. Google came out into the Smart Home market with Google Home Mini and the Google Home. The Google Home Mini is now part of many smart homes all over the world. The Home Mini is still competing with the Amazon Echo Dot. Even though the newer version of the Nest Mini is now in the market, the Google Home Mini’s are still being offered as a convenient way to allow your home to be smart.

You can buy the Google Home Mini from Google using our Affiliate Links (we may make money from eligible sales):

The Google Home Mini was made to provide information that you could access over voice commands using Google Assistant. Need to know the weather? Need to make reservations? Just ask Google by saying “Hey, Google” or “Ok, Google”. Then ask Google for something. You’ll probably get an answer.

Here are a few things you can try with the Google Mini:

Google Home Mini

The Google Home Mini is a Smart Home Speaker. It is able to recognize your voice and respond to information queries. The Google Home Mini is built with two mics to ensure that you can be heard from the cylindrical device. The Google Home Mini is also equipped with 360 degrees sound on a 40-mm driver speaker. It can actually output some decent sound. You can increase or decrease the volume by touching the ‘East or ‘West’ location of the device

You will need to install the Google Home app if you want to integrate the speaker into your Smart Home Automation routines, however, the WiFi/Bluetooth device will produce features like information, weather, and traffic. Otherwise, the Google Home Mini can be used to get content from your music and video subscriptions through the Google Home App.

The Google Home Mini has Chromecast Audio, so you can cast your radio or satellite music subscription to the Mini speaker as well. The device also works as a Hub for Google Home Integration to a ton of partners.

The Google Home Mini comes in a number of colors: Chalk, Charcoal, Coral, and Aqua.

What I like about the Google Home Mini

  • I really like the mobility of the Google Home Mini. You can unplug and plug again into any Wi-Fi space and reconnect your Google Home Integration.
  • The compact size and durability give you confidence that the device will outlast drops and bumps.
  • The speaker is quite powerful for something so small and gives you clear sound.
  • Making phone calls from the Google Home Mini Speaker is reliable. It outputs good call volume and people on the other end can hear you quite well too even if you’re 10 feet away or more.
  • You can pair two speakers to make left-right pair for stereo sound, and it functions quite well. I use this feature in the Garage. It makes for a good working atmosphere in the Garage.

What I don’t like about the Google Home Mini

  • There is not much I don’t like about the Google Home Mini. If I could pick on anything; maybe its the power adapter size. I wish it was smaller, or the cord would come straight out the adapter to allow for other devices to be plugged in.
  • The controls; The capacitive touch one each side only increases volume and decreases volume. I think it would have been good if they improved the capacitive touch with doing a clockwise or counterclockwise swipe for volume, or added the touch the middle to pause (it was a feature they removed due to security reasons).

Google Home Mini in Your Home

The Google Home Mini is one of those devices that are small enough to place on a desk, table, counter or even on the floor. The device is rugged enough to be placed anywhere. The two microphones can hear you across the room. If you have a number of Google Home Mini’s or Google accessible devices, Google will figure out the closest ‘Speaker’ to answer your query. With the low cost (now anywhere from $25 to $40), you will get good value out of these devices. It’s the smallest and economical entry into the Google Home Automation system. I have a number of Google Home Mini’s in my home. I’m glad to have them. It will enhance any home and provide information at the sound of your voice when you need it. If you don’t have a smart speaker in your home, this is a good entry point.

I hope you enjoy reading these articles. Enjoy your Google Home Mini.
