There are a ton of new features coming in the Google Home App. Apart from the increased processing, it takes to turn a light on in the Google Home app, Google is also updating the number of devices that can be integrated into the Google Home ecosystem.
Google Home: New Device Types
Google Home has updated its automation database to include more device types like:
- Water Softeners
- Air Purifiers
- Carbon Monoxide Detectors
You can read more about them here: https://developers.google.com/assistant/smarthome/guides
The significance is that not only will we be able to see them on the Google Home App, but possibly start looking at realtime information from these sensors.
Imagine looking into how many ‘ppm’ of Carbon Monoxide (CO) is in your Garage at any moment, or if your air purifier filter is dirty, or whether your water is reaching the right salt concentration to keep your water soft.
Google Home is starting to make some headroom into fully functional device types that are needed in the Home. I am looking forward to adding more devices to the Google Home ecosystem.
Thank you for reading.
