Introduction of the G410 Update

At CES, Aqara unveiled the Video Doorbell G410, which included important advancements such as 2K video quality for sharper pictures, a practical 4:3 aspect ratio for capturing top-to-bottom views, and strong end-to-end encryption for privacy.

Notably, it has a mmWave sensor, which ensures better accuracy in detecting people. These innovations distinguish the G410 as a significant upgrade over its predecessor, the G4, in the smart doorbell industry.

Dual Connectivity Options

The G410 improves smart home communication by supporting dual-band Wi-Fi, Thread, and Zigbee protocols. This functionality converts it into a complete smart home hub, easily integrating Aqara accessories and third-party Matter-compatible devices.

Users can now manage their smart ecosystem more efficiently, resulting in greater interoperability and easier communication across devices on a single platform.

Local and Cloud Storage Options

Unlike many rivals, the G410 offers a configurable storage solution, including free local storage via microSD card and connection with Apple HomeKit Secure Video for cloud storage.

While local storage is still free, cloud recording now requires a subscription. This dual storage solution provides consumers with options, whether offline security or powerful cloud-based services.

Flexible Powering Modes

The G410 has two power options: it may operate on six AA batteries for mobility or hardwired for continuous power. Customers can activate 24-hour video recording on a microSD card for continuous observation when hardwired.

The versatility of dual powering guarantees that the doorbell meets various installation requirements, making it an appealing option for both renters and homeowners.

Enhanced Ecosystem Compatibility

The G410 is fully compatible with Apple Home, Amazon Alexa, Google Home, and Samsung SmartThings, providing significant ecosystem connectivity.

Users may transmit live video directly to smart displays such as Nest Hubs and Echo Shows. This compatibility offers a consistent experience across platforms by providing a common control interface for all linked devices.

Advanced AI Features

The G410 has AI-based facial recognition and can identify up to 30 distinct faces, including family members and regular guests.

This feature enables users to automate smart home tasks, such as unlocking doors and changing lighting, based on who is at the door. Its sophisticated artificial intelligence (AI) enables real-time detection and efficient customizing for security and convenience.

Real-time Streaming Protocol (RTSP) Support

The G410 supports RTSP, which allows users to transmit live video feeds locally to third-party systems such as Home Assistant. This feature is especially useful for tech-savvy consumers seeking a personalized and private configuration.

RTSP allows customers to circumvent cloud services and directly connect the doorbell’s video stream to their current smart home infrastructure.

Weather Resistance and Build Quality

The G410 is IPX3-rated and intended for protected applications, such as beneath porches, to protect against mild rain and humidity.

Its robust yet small design complements most house styles, although its weaker weather resistance compared to IP65-rated devices limits its use in harsher situations. Ensure optimum positioning to improve its longevity and performance.

Video Specifications

The G410 provides clear pictures with 2K resolution and a 172-degree diagonal field of view. The new 4:3 aspect ratio increases vertical visibility, allowing viewers to observe guests from head to toe.

However, the absence of HDR imagery may result in lower clarity in high-contrast lighting environments, such as direct sunshine or shaded porches.

Customizable Alerts

The G410‘s smart alerts include motion and people notifications, but Apple Home allows you to configure additional alerts, such as package and vehicle detection.

This adaptability suits many use cases, allowing users to tailor notifications based on their security choices and everyday needs.

Chime Repeater Integration

The G410 has a multifunctional chime repeater that also functions as a Wi-Fi extender to provide stable connectivity.

It has a powerful 95dB speaker for clear visitor notifications and a microSD card for local video storage. This clever innovation improves ease and security, making it a necessary system component.

Unique Voice Masking and Custom Ringtones

During the two-way conversation, the G410 allows users to conceal their voice with settings like “robot” or “uncle” tones to increase privacy.

Custom ringtones may also be uploaded for the doorbell and the chime repeater. These features make visitor interactions more enjoyable and tailored while still maintaining privacy.

Installation & Setup

The G410 simplifies installation by offering adhesive and screw-mounting options, making it suitable for various doorframe designs.

Pairing with the Aqara app is effortless, and connection with key ecosystems such as Apple Home, Alexa, and Google Home assures a simple setup for new and seasoned users.

Privacy-Focused Features

The G410 protects your privacy with end-to-end encryption for video streams and the ability to disable some cloud-based services.

Local AI face recognition and private storage choices on a microSD card demonstrate its dedication to user privacy, making it a reliable solution for sensitive applications.

Smart Home Automation

The G410 uses Aqara’s automation engine to trigger smart home devices based on face recognition or motion detection.

For example, lights can be turned on when a recognized face approaches the door. This connection enhances security and energy efficiency, creating a dynamic smart home experience.
