This week, we talk about Apple’s new patent, what you can do with on Valentine’s day with your Flic button, the recent pandemic news and what you can do to prevent germs from spreading on your personal devices, and Samsung’s latest Device Event.
Apple iArtificial Patent
That’s my take on the new Apple Patent. Apple’s new iA, instead of AI. I think they would brand it as such. Apple has filed a patent for technology that will allow devices in certain rooms to be configured or adapted to the needs of the people in the room. What!!? This is another huge step in Home Automation. 9to5Mac reported on this yesterday. Now, another similar tech we talked about on automatelife.net; Take a search on the homepage for RoomMe. It will be interesting to see how this shapes up for Apple. They really need to work on their Edge Computing to make something like this work well in the home.
Sanitizing your Devices with UV
I do not want to take the situation that’s going on in the world lightly. There is some serious stuff happening around the world when it comes to spreading of contagion or viruses. WebMD talks about using UV light. However, since this is an automation and tech site, I thought I could suggest just one device that can help us keep our automation and tech devices clean. And it just takes 60 seconds. There are UV ‘baths’ for your devices on the market. I saw lots of these at CES 2020. Valentines Day – Use Flic
Of course, there are tons of ways to automate your home to celebrate Valentine’s Day. One of my first articles on this site was about the Teckin S50 bulb. You can read about it here: https://automatelife.net/teckin-led-smart-bulb-sb50-no-hub-required/.
Then there is an all-purpose way to just send a valentine throughout the year: Use your Flic button to send messages to your loved one with a ‘flic’ of a button. You can go to your local Dollar Store or Amazon, and find a heart sticker to put on the button to remind you that this Flic Button means ‘sending love’.
- Send an SMS natively: Use the Flic App to send an SMS message…. you can send up to 10 people… But this is Valentine’s Day – so you send it to one person :).
You can find the Flic Button here: https://amzn.to/2HrB2FP
Samsung got UNPACKED
Samsung showed off its Galaxy S20 and Galaxy Z Flip phone. You gotta check these phones out. They also released the Galaxy Buds Plus. You can read about it here: https://automatelife.net/samsung-galaxy-unpacked-2020-event-the-age-of-experience/
Have a good weekend everyone! Thanks for reading.
