Black Friday is coming up and I’m starting to think about all the things that I can look at. I’m considering device to start your smart home; devices that you could provide you a good value that is not obsolete, and can still provide you the value for entertainment or for automating your home or keeping you secure. Long sentence. I’m just trying to see what could help you with your smart home on Black Friday.
So, I’m just going to pick six things that come to the top of mind for the Smart Home. These aren’t the 6 things that you have to have because I say so. However, the six devices mentioned below have maintained their value over the past few years. I think they could benefit your smart home.
All right, so the first thing I want to talk about is the TP-Link Kasa Smart Switch. I’ve been talking about this for a while now. The TP-Link Kasa Smart Switch is so easy to install. I have an installation article on automatelife.net. The Kasa Smart Switch is built well and it just works. It monitors your power. What else can I say? It is been the device in our home that I’ve never had to check on never had to fiddle with or fix.
Automate Your Life is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to amazon.com and other Amazon websites.
I’ve never had to reconnect it to my Wi-Fi. It’s been sturdy. It’s been almost a year and a half now. I use it for my Christmas lights every year, and they turn on and off during sunrise or sunset. It’s great.
Ecobee Smart Thermostat (Special Mention)
The next thing I want to talk about is the Ecobee Smart Thermostat. Now, I have two Ecobee thermostats in my home. When you live in Canada, sometimes you have to have two furnaces: one for the main floor and one for the basement. I have ecobee3’s at my house.
They have been by far the best thermostat that I’ve had so far. I have used the Nest Learning Thermostat in previous homes. The Ecobee thermostat has worked well. It’s rarely dropped out of Wi-Fi connection and rarely had errors. I know it monitors and reminds me of what I need to maintain my HVAC system.
It also provides an eco-friendly way to reduce the temperature settings automatically to ensure that you get the best and most efficient comfort for your home. Just ask Alexa to warm up the place.
Now when we talk about things we need to buy for your home, you got to think about the kids. You ‘gotta’ think about your family. One of the things I can think about is the Fire HD Kids Edition tablet. Right, now (Nov. 6, 2020) it’s on sale for $129 (Regular $199), and I’m guessing it’s probably going to be part of a two-pack deal on Black Friday. I can’t confirm, but if the price goes lower than $129 US per tablet, which is already a significant deal, you’ll be blown away at a lower price. However, the reason I mention this now is that its possible quantities may not last for Christmas -just saying.
Amazon has done their homework in terms of trying to ensure that kids are engaged using the Fire HD Kids Edition tablets. Fire HD Kids Edition tablets come with the Amazon Kids+ (previously known as FreeTime Unlimited); Fire HD Kids Edition tablets pretty much will have all the apps that you need for your children and all the games and things like that that your children would need and all the educational tools that your children would need. Amazon Kids+ is free for the first year. Then USD 2.99 per month after that.
Then carrying on if you think about what Amazon has provided in terms of the smart home you think about the echo show displays. I’m gonna talk primarily about the Echo Show 8. I know that the new Echo Show Ten is coming out and it’s probably really nice to have, but if you don’t need that much screen, the Echo Show 8 is the right size display to have anywhere in your home; office, kitchen, living room. Good display, good sound.
I don’t think the Echo Show 8 is going to be obsolete right away and it will still provide value for the price ($64.99, Regular $129.99 Nov. 6, 2020). To think that it’s going to be discounted or added with another Alexa-enabled device on sale on Black Friday. Maybe this is another high-functioning smart home device that you don’t want to miss. The Echo Show 8 will do everything that you need Alexa to do in a blink of an eye.
Now, I want to talk to you about the Fire TV Stick. It’s now the All-New Fire TV stick. For such a price ($27.99 Nov. 6, 2020), you’re going to get all the entertainment options that you would probably get from any media streaming box out there on the market. The interface is smooth, and you can use your voice to control all the entertainment options. You can play games, and connect to your media streaming on the Fire TV.
It’s a small compact, yet powerful device at such a low price.
Now the other thing I want to talk about is the ring video doorbell the ring very doorbell or primarily living Ring Video Doorbell 3. A few of my neighbors have them. Most of the reviews that I read, state that people enjoy using the Ring Video Doorbell 3. Especially being able to see the video on your Echo Show 8 Smart Display. I’m hearing for the most part the Ring Video Doorbell 3 is a reliable doorbell cam that you can have for your home.
Five Amazon Alexa-enabled products that you should buy on Black Friday.
These are just five things that I’ve been thinking about to get ready for Black Friday, they could be the primary devices you could use in your home to ensure that:
1) Managing your home safety with the Ring Video Doorbell 3. Keep tabs on Porch Pirates.
2) Making sure you have the right entertainment devices for Christmas Holidays and all those weekends in front of the TV; you can access gaming and information all at the same time with the Fire TV Stick, Echo Show 8, and the Fire HD Kids Edition. The Fire HD Kids Edition is just a bonus for your children and at such a cheap price for a tablet.
3) Smart Home Automation: The TP-Link Kasa Smart Switch and Ecobee Smart Thermostat. Put those two together in your home this fall and winter, and you can rest easy on your Christmas lights and your home comfort.
Well, there you have it. I hope you enjoy your Black Friday and get all the things that you need. And not just the things that you want. I think these devices will improve life at home, saving you time and money.
Just remember. Don’t Hate. Automate.
