5 Smart Home Devices that I would buy right now: Prime Day came and went. We just had our device events from all the major tech companies, and I’m starting to think: Black Friday is coming and Christmas is on the way. So should I get to supply my home with the right smart home devices? I’ve been walking around my house lately and just thinking about what I can do to improve, automate, and make my home more secure. I walked through every part of my house and I started to think about how I can increase and improve things like Wi-Fi. How can I automate more things like my light switches or maybe even my Christmas lights outside, or turn the lights on and off automatically based on presence or motion? I don’t want to break the bank, and I want to get devices that I know are devices that will last a long time and will not be obsolete in a few years.

There are practical ways to improve the entertainment in the home. Google has come out with the All-new Chromecast with Google TV device that does everything. You should check out the video below: Brian goes through a ton of the features in this tutorial video. It would be great to have more ability to access my smart home devices, listen to music, and connect with friends and family from anywhere in the home. There are a lot of options for smart displays. There are a ton of smart appliances that could be functional in our home right now. I could turn on automatically like simple things like vacuuming your carpet, you know to be able to turn on on certain cycles or just be able to turn on with your voice.
5 Smart Home Devices to buy right now
I’m going to run through about five things that I would buy right now to improve my home. Devices that I know to be tried and tested.
Google Wi-Fi 3 Pack
The first device I would look at is the Google Wi-Fi Mesh system: now called Google Wi-Fi. It is different from the Nest Wi-Fi system. The new Google Wi-Fi is the second generation. It is much cheaper than the first generation of Google Wi-Fi at $199 compared to $290. You will get three access points so you can spread around your home. I already have the Google Wi-Fi with a router and two points and now with the Google Wi-Fi system. I am thinking of adding 3 more points in the house to ensure that all my devices are connected, and there are no dead spots. You might think it’s overkill, but you’ll be surprised at how much interference there is with other devices, neighbors, and appliances. I can control my home and automate it from anywhere. I am also doing the online school thing, so my children’s device needs to have consistent Wi-Fi in the home.
I could put a Google Wi-Fi point in my garage, or put a Wi-Fi point close to the outside wall, so I can extend my Wi-Fi range outdoors. I would lower the Wi-Fi congestion.
TP-Link Kasa Smart Light Switch
The second thing that I’d like to get is the TP-Link Kasa Smart Light Switch Right now. It’s on sale on Amazon (October 24, 2020). I should get a few more of the Kasa Smart Light Switches for my home. The Smart Light Switches have worked so well in my house. I use the TP-Link Kasa Smart Light Switch for my outdoor Christmas lights. The installation is easy. I am thinking of adding more Smart Light Switches for other single pole light switches in my home. It makes it so easy to turn my outdoor lights on with my voice assistant or a press of a button on the light switch.
The Kasa Smart Light Switch also monitors the amount of power, so I can attribute how much the Christmas lights are adding to my electrical bill. Convenient and Easy.
Entertainment: New Chromecast with Google TV
Google has now come out with the new Chromecast with Google TV. I have been debating between the all-new Chromecast with Google TV and Amazon’s FireTV stick. I’ve heard great things about the Fire TV stick. However, you can do pretty much everything with the new Chromecast.
You can access Amazon’s Prime Video on the new Google TV platform, which is a great feature. And you can play video games and access to YouTube Music or YouTube videos. It’s all in one place. You can also use the remote control to manage your TV.
Smart Display: Nest Hub Max
The next thing that I’d like to look at is having another set of Smart Displays in the home. I have a Lenovo Smart Display in my kitchen, but you know, it’d be great to have a premium sound smart speaker like the Nest Hub Max. Brian from Automate Your Life can’t stop raving about his. The Nest Hub Max can stream video and give me access to all the newest features of the Google Assistant.
It would be great to add a Nest Hub Max in the family room for my kids to access their favorite music or video. They can also call their friends and family in a commonplace.
Smart Appliances: Robot Vacuum
There are certain appliances like the Instant Pot or other devices that can run automatically; I was thinking about the iRobot vacuum cleaner or the Yeedi Robovac. I have an older iRobot vacuum cleaner. It’s one of the best Robovacs on the market. Robotic appliances could improve your day. It would save time and energy. The robovac will turn on by itself (scheduled), or you could turn them on automatically by using your voice.
5 Smart Devices to consider for your home right now
These are five things that I’m thinking about right now. Maybe I’ll put on my wish list for Black Friday and in the Christmas holidays. These devices are smart devices that would provide tons of value for you and your family.
If there’s an honorable mention, I’d probably think about the smart plugs like the TP Kasa Smart Plug, which is also a great device to automate your home appliances or lamps.
Well, that’s it. I hope you have a great day and a great weekend. I hope you’re able to find the smart home automation devices that you need.
